WHAT A MONTH!!

So I'm sorry I have been AWOL this month, we have had a ton of things going on. My mother in law has been battling cancer since July. At the beginning of this month she started to take a turn for the worst and last Sunday she went home to be with Jesus. I am very thankful that we had several months of her feeling pretty good and that she didn't suffer for long. It's never easy losing a loved one, but around the Holidays it's even worse. I feel so blessed to have know her for the past 8 years. We love you Nana and you are greatly missed!

Here are a few things that I have been up to.

Here is my beautiful sister in law modeling an apron I made for her.
This is such a fun apron to make and it comes together so quickly.
I think I will quilt the next one I make.

I also began my embroidery adventure this month. I am almost finished with my advent calendar (yay) which I will post later. I also started a birthday present for a girlfriend who loves owls.

We had a great Thanksgiving Holiday and I had a lot to be thankful for! Spent time with family and we had some amazing food. However I am so mad, because I didn't take one picture not one :(
I have a lot of things I want to do with my kiddos during the Christmas season. We are going to make some tasty treats that only come out during the Holidays: Carmel corn, sausage balls, peanut brittle and I want  us to make a gingerbread house. We will also be making some homemade ornaments that I saw on Martha the other day, hopefully I will remember to take some pictures :)
So lots to come and I will be posting regularly again.
I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday!!
One more thing, my husband and I were trying to figure out an issue with my laptop and we ended up doing something wrong. Needless to say we had to take it in to apple and my poor husband had to wait about an hour past our reservation just to see one of the tech guys. It was an easy fix and covered under warranty- Praise God! So my husband leaves to get us dinner. He drives home, we eat and he heads back out to apple. Then what happens, he hits a pot hole which blows out a chunk of the tire and bends the frame a tiny bit. Another praise all that is covered under warranty. I am thankful for warranties!! What a month!! So that is another reason why I didn't post earlier this week!

I NOW HAVE A SEWING ROOM!!

I finally have my own sewing room!
I didn't think that would happen until we moved into a bigger house. I used to sew at the kitchen table and hated that because I would constantly have to move all my stuff. Get sewing machine, fabric, patterns, sewing notions, etc out of the closet. Then put it all away at dinner time, even if I wasn't finished. That doesn't inspire one to sew, at least it didn't me. So I set out to find a sewing desk. I found one on craigslist and set it up near the kitchen table. I sewed a lot more now, but still had a mess that overflowed to the kitchen table.

Solution: I took over the toy room!

My boys had so many toys they didn't play with hardly any of them. Instead, it was lets just make a giant mess all over the downstairs.
So we downsized their loot and put all toys back into their room. Not only do we NOT have toys all over the downstairs now, but I have my own sewing space. I couldn't be happier and they like having all their toys in their room. It's a win-win situation.

I have now added a new piece of furniture to hold my fabric stash.
I think my ironing board needs a new cover.

So what do you think? I would love to see your sewing space and where you create.

Color wheel charm swap

So like I said in a previous post, I have fallen in love with swapping!
I am so excited because I was able to get in to the Color Wheel Charm Swap hosted by Kati From The Blue Chair. She said she would only have 20 spaces available and she would open it at 8:00 am. So I set my alarm and got ready. I got on her blog at 7: 40 just to make sure I wouldn't miss it. Well, I didn't factor in that she was in a different time zone. I think I was a couple hours early so I waited.
Finally 8:00 her time rolled around and yay I got in.
My color is Orange - Red and we are to have a light and a dark pattern. My fabric just arrived and I will be cutting charms tonight and shipping them off Monday.

All the other fabrics look amazing and I can't wait to get them all together. I think I want to do a project similar to this one from Pink Chalk Fabrics. I'm in love with that quilt, I may just have to get that kit as well!! :)
What you would do with a colorful charm pack?

How sweet

I don't know about any of you other bloggers out there, but it's a lot of work to get your blog out there and have people see it. I'm a blogging baby, so for me this was very overwhelming at first. I'm getting more used to blogging and searching other blogs. I was so excited when I read Lily's Quilts and her post for people who have just started a blog or who are under 50 followers. Thank You Sister!! She has a great blog and I'm really inspired by what she creates. Again thank you so much for helping the little guy!

So a little about me... I love my sweet husband and two precious boys.  I just started quilting and I'm really loving it. I also love to sew!! I also want to give a shout out to my girl, the best sewing machine I ever had. She's a Bernina by the way.

I really am surprised at how much I'm into blogging since I have never been a writer type of gal (even though my mother poked and prodded me to keep a journal or some kind of written word). I guess I just needed time!
Thanks for checking out my blog and please leave a comment and follow me and I will be checking out yours and doing the same.

Octopus Costume

I would have uploaded this last night, but for some reason
I couldn't get my pictures to import to the computer.
It was a little frustrating to say the least.
We took the boys to Trunk or Treat last night and they had a blast getting a boat load of candy.
I couldn't believe how much loot they got...probably enough for the whole year!
I believe it was last year that Martha Stewart
made the cutest little octopus costume on her show. I had to try it out and here are the boys modeling it for me. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the process. :(

What a bunch of HAMS!!

All in all I think it was a good day!!
