I have been wanting to try my hand at paper piecing for a while now, but just have had a million and one things on my plate. Yesterday I took the plunge. I was catching up on some blog reading and popped on over to From The Blank Pages. Diane has an amazing blog and she has some pretty awesome patterns on Craftsy. So like I was saying, I was playing catch up on some recent blog posts I missed and saw her tutorial for paper piecing. I decided I needed to break from what I was working on and decided to follow along with her Two Stars Squared pattern. When I saw it I immediately thought about my Modern BOM Sampler I'm making and thought it would be a nice addition. I just love all the blocks I have done so far. You can see them here and here and here. I had a hard time with the improv block and never finished it. I didn't take a lot of pictures, because it was raining and dark all day. I need better lighting for sure. This kept happening to me where I would fold the paper back to cut the excess fabric and would cut the fabric off I just sewed :(
A little irritating, especially when you do it over and over again.
I finally got all four done and love the the final block!!! I still need to sew it all up, but was so tired last night and wanted to show it off.
looking good
ReplyDeleteWell done at your first attempt at paper piecing! It definitely is a learning curve when you first start but once you get the hang of it, it gets easier :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing your first paper pieced blocks, you will soon be addicted! I feel your pain at cutting off the fabric you have just sewn, having just done the same thing this morning :)
ReplyDeleteGreat star!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out so nice! Don't worry, I have done the cutting off the fabric you just sewed a few too many times myself, so you are not alone. Great job girl!!
ReplyDeleteHey Cute girl!! How are you??? :)
